Code Green
Reliable information on AI’s potential, and its limitations, for climate action in Asia remains fragmented. In our year-long assessment of AI and climate action across Asia, we saw that while new research is emerging, opportunities for engagement between researchers, investors, and climate organisations are limited.
Commissioned by Earth Venture Foundation in 2024, Code Green seeks to dissolve knowledge barriers and move beyond the hype driving growth in climate-AI solutions. Through a newsletter and podcast series, we:
- Surface research and trends in technological developments in climate-related fields
- Highlight socio-technical challenges in implementing AI-driven climate solutions
- Facilitate meaningful discussions and collaborations
Our primary goal is to catalyse action and drive investments that align AI innovation trajectories with climate justice in the region. By promoting interdisciplinary engagement and amplifying critical insights, we hope to shape a future where AI is leveraged responsibly in the fight against climate change.

Commissioned by Earth Venture Foundation, Code Green is a podcast and newsletter series that deep dives into the intersection of Al and climate-tech in Asia.
In 2023, Digital Futures Lab convened experts to explore AI’s role in climate action across agriculture, energy, and disaster response in nine Asian countries under the project, AI+Climate Futures in Asia.
Our research revealed key gaps in Asia’s climate tech and AI ecosystem, including limited investment in data and capacity building, fragmented efforts, knowledge gaps, and top-down approaches.
As a follow-up, we launched Code Green showcasing the latest scientific research at the intersection of AI and Climate and forging stronger linkages across academia and policy through multidisciplinary dialogue.
