Alternative Futures | Bangalore
Dona recently co-led two days of Alternative Futures at Goethe Institut Bangalore, with AlgorithmWatch, in partnership with Quicksand Design Studio.
Over two days, around 25 participants from civil society, startups, and academia joined us to explore the complex challenges at the intersection of AI and climate action, like Data Justice, Sustainability, and Responsibility in climate tech.
Dona, project lead 'AI+Climate Futures in Asia' and 'Code Green', shared her learnings, findings and recommendations from our work exploring what AI and climate tech can look like for the very unique and diverse Asian context; leading to the group ending with three core questions they found necessary to begin an enquiry in sustainable AI futures in Asia with:
- When we say AI for climate futures, what is AI solving for?
- How do you solve for sustainable finance for tech solutions in the climate space to ensure that relevant solutions actually can be sustained over time to drive impact?
- How do you build participatory approaches to developing climate tech solutions?
